Planet Word is the world's first voice-activated text and language museum Local Projects partnered with philanthropist Ann Friedman and her team to transform the Franklin School, a national historic landmark six blocks from the White House, into Planet Word, the world's first voice-activated language museum. Through ten immersive learning galleries, visitors can use their own voices to interact and engage with exhibits, while listening to voices from diverse international leaders, writers and ordinary people sharing what language means to them.

library The library is a magical place where the wonders of imagination and literature collide. Visitors can choose from a wide range of books and watch characters, scenes and important moments come to life before their eyes. As birds fly, basketballs bounce, and Alice falls down the rabbit hole, visitors hear filmed narration explaining what makes each book special

词语从何而来？

Where do words come from? In this introductory gallery, a massive wall of more than 1,000 three-dimensional words comes to life by speaking aloud, asking visitors questions and responding through a lively combination of sound, animation and lighting effects. This interactive wall uses its sound to address stereotypes and misconceptions about how language works—for example, challenging the idea of "not being a word" and providing evidence that language is a creature shaped by all of us.

The extravaganza aims to create personal statues with native speakers, showcasing 30 different languages (many of them rare) from six continents. word world In the World of Words gallery, visitors "paint" using a "smart" brush and choose a descriptive word. As they move the paintbrush along the walls, the landscape comes to life with images, motion and sound effects that reflect the meaning of specific words. The scene evolves as visitors paint with new words.
