Museums encounter the phenomenon of artificial intelligence - this is the narrative of the new special exhibition "Artificial Intelligence - The Human Dream of Machine Learning" at the Deutsches Hygiene Museum in Dresden, which explores the possibilities of artificial intelligence, but also reveals The dangers of artificial intelligence. Through five exhibition chapters, visitors can learn about the cultural history and current development of artificial intelligence. Scientific and cultural history exhibitions, and audio-visual and contemporary artworks seek to explore different dimensions of AI, from past dreams to current discourse and possible futures.

AI Story Mode - Dream
The exhibition begins with an orientation prologue consisting of two medialized theater curtains. These are recorded with video animations of historical image material. Highlights from the history of AI thought are placed on illuminated plinths in front of the screen and combined with video animations. Warm light colors enhance spaces of possibility, where the ideas of the first theorists can be experienced.

Training room - in the artificial neural network
Artificial systems learn quickly and efficiently by deriving practical regularities from the concise examples and patterns they can find. Visitors learn how the artificial intelligence trains itself in the so-called training room. They themselves become a learning system by entering into an immaterial, artistic neural network, turning the space into a unique experience of the scene. With its net-like light architecture, the exhibition space appears endless and invisible.

Global Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure—Dream Factory
Although AI is immaterial, it is by no means unlocatable or invisible. In the 21st century, huge data centers continue to emerge around the world, generating unimaginable massive amounts of data and forming a global industry. To experience the banality of these volumes, visitors enter a horizontally arranged, metal-hard room with a grim industrial light. The endless array of racking structures offers an abstract view of the real, brutal and energy-consuming world of work and manufacturing. The interactive media station integrated into the building system tells the "hard" side of artificial intelligence, contrary to the "green" image, its unecological side is shown here.

Our AI presentation - Smartlive
Our daily lives are already intertwined with it: we work with AI, we live with AI, we create art with AI. So has the dream of artificial intelligence come true? Chez Weitz designed a room-sized model of a snow-white city made up of constructive houses with brightly colored facades. This creates a thematic group course that enables visitors to experience and question how artificial intelligence permeates our everyday lives. Buildings represent opportunities and dangers, such as progress or manipulation by artificial intelligence along the dark paths of the themed houses on their facades.

Revisiting Artificial Intelligence—Community and Responsibility
"How will we deal with artificial intelligence in the future?" This is the question posed by Re-Visions in the last room. Will we soon have to limit AI so that they don't become a danger to us? In the contradictory light of dusk, three large, enclosed white houses alternate between communal discussion spaces and classic white cubes, installations for the tactical-technical collective. The scenographic design encourages discussion not only among visitors, but also with the exhibits on display.
